Trichloroacetic breaks down keratin, a protein found naturally in the skin, causing keratin to cease proper function and allowing the skin to lighten and peel away over the course of several days.
Unique characteristics: The mechanism that TCA-15 peel works according to is protein coagulation and the depth of penetration is not only dependant on percentage but on the number of coats as well. The number of coats will determine the depth and as it is self-neutralising it will continue looking for protein to neutralise the peel. Frosting is an indication of protein coagulation. TCA-15 peel is self-neutralising so can only be diluted not neutralised in totality if rinsed. The rinsing of the skin removes any peel that may have pooled and makes the client more comfortable.

Skin conditions indication:

Moderate hyper-pigmentation
Wrinkles & fine lines
Solar damage
Brown spots and melasma

Scarring

TCA-15 peel will result in moderate to heavy peeling, and most people experience downtime. The drier the skin the more intense the peel. TCA-15 peel can be applied for up to three layers. Each layer will remain on your skin for a maximum of ten minutes, or until frosting occurs. Client skin may feel warm rather than tingle. With TCA peels frosting indicates the depth of the peel. You will begin to peel approximately 48-72 hours after the treatment and the peeling will last generally 2-7 days. There is little pain, but the skin looks as if it has a severe sunburn.
Clinical end points: TCA peels remove a uniform layer of skin cells from the epidermis. Because peels accelerate you cell turnover, it is normal to have a purging phase when you first start treating the skin. During this beginning stage you can notice things such as breakouts and areas of pigmentation getting darker. Keep It Moisturised/ Hydrated. The more your skin is moisturized, the faster it's going to heal. Try applying the Peptite Booster all over your face morning and evening. Not only will it help to speed up your recovery, but it will also soothe your skin so that it doesn't feel so irritated.
What to expect after peel: Recovering from a TCA peel can take as little as 48 hours for mild treatments or up to seven days for stronger treatments. After a mild TCA peel, your skin will look brighter right away with little skin lifting and peeling . Your skin may have a pink flush at first, but this will soon disappear. Deeper frosting results in skin sloughing off in larger ‘sheets’.
